Product Description-

Found in many of fruits and vegetables, quercetin is a flavonoid - a naturally occurring substance vital to plant growth, and is rich in antioxidants. Quercitin is an anti-histamine, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It is one of the most prominent flavonoid compounds found in food. It is most commonly found in dates, cranberries, kale, green tea, apples, onions, blueberries, broccoli and plums.

Of all the flavonoids, Quercetin is the subject of the most scientific studies, principally due to it's ability to kill cancer cells. The National University of Singapore has published the results of many different research projects focussing on Quercetin's anti-cancer properties. You can read some of these papers here:

Quercetin kills up to 80% of breast cancer cells: http://www.nus.edu.sg/nurop/2009/FoS/14th%20NUROP%20Congress_FoS/Life%20Sciences/Pharmacology/Chang%20Kai%20Lun_U063350W.pdf

Quercetin kills nasopharyngal (nose and throat) cancer cells: http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/bitstream/handle/10635/25055/Ong%20CS.pdf?sequence=1

Use of Quercetin to kill lung cancer cells: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3278229/

Use of Quercetin to kill Prostate cancer cells: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12888923

Quercetin is also well-known for its anti-inflammatory properties and has similar action as of aspirin. It basically helps in inhibiting the nerve pathways that cause pain. This makes it effective in relieving the pain associated with colds, fevers and muscle pain. The antioxidants also lower the risk of heart disease by reducing the cholesterol levels and preventing the risk of plaque formation. By acting as a vaso-dilating ingredient, quercetin also lowers the blood pressure levels. Hence, it protects your heart from various different angles.

Several studies have shown the role of this vital flavonoid in managing blood sugar levels. Quercetin works as an aldose reductase inhibitor, which prevents the conversion of glucose into fructose and sorbitol. This in turn prevents the risk of complications of diabetes.

Due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties, quercetin supplements could be effective in reducing the severity of asthma attacks. It works as a broncho-dilator and reduces congestion and promotes dilation of brochial tubes. Research has shown that quercetin has immune boosting properties, and regular intake of this useful ingredient may help provide immunity against various diseases. Studies have shown that quercetin also improves endurance levels in athletes and bodybuilders.

Regular intake of quercetin hastens muscle recovery and builds stamina. Quercetin is a free-radical fighting flavonoid that offers all the benefits of antioxidants. Found naturally in green tea, apple and onions, this nutrient-dense superfood prevents the oxidation of healthy cells by free radicals, thereby offering protection to major vital organs throughout the body.

Quercetin helps reduce inflammation, combat allergies and boost immune response to viral infections. Researchers have found it inhibits the growth of breast, colon, ovarian and lung tumours. In a report from The University of Maryland Medical Center, it was noted that those people with diets high in quercetin-rich fruits and vegetables show reduced incidence of certain cancers.

Scientists report  that quercetin's antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects can help treat both rheumatoid arthritis - (where the body's own immune system goes haywire, and starts to attack the synovial membrane which contains and provides lubrication to the joints)  and osteo-arthritis, in which the "rubbery cushion" or cartilage in the joint breaks down, causing the bones to rub against each other). It also inhibits uric acid prodcution, further alleviating gout problems.

Each capsule of Swanson High Potency Quercetin delivers 475 mg of this flavonoid rich superfood. A single dose of quercetin supplement is a perfect way to improve your wellness.
